About Me
Through my background in community planning and web development, I've become an information and
interaction architect for public involvement processes. My main interest lies in improving decision-making processes
by exploring new ways to combine traditional and electronic ways of
communication.
Currently
I work as Online Engagement Manager for Public Agenda, identifying ways to support their citizen choicework approach online.
On the side I continue my work as a freelancer and founder of xMedia Participation LLC, developing interactive web and mobile applications like TextTheMob.com or RE-Text.Info and eParticipation websites based on the content management platform Drupal. Drop me a line if you want to hire me for your eParticipation project. For a list of recent projects, view my portfolio >>.
Until April 2008 I worked as Director of eParticipation at PlaceMatters, initially in collaboration with the University of Colorado. In this position I organized a variety of visioning and public participation projects. These typically included eMeetings, featuring keypad polling and groupware to capture and prioritize outcomes of round table discussions and online engagement platforms to support the decision-making process.
From 2006 to 2007 I was communication manager and researcher at Zebralog, a Berlin-based non-profit organization
focusing on online dialogues, where I organized, facilitated, and
evaluated online dialogues. Before that, I was Civic
Engagement and Technology Advisor for PlaceMatters, then a program of the
Orton Family Foundation, working to promote high performance approaches
to citizen collaboration, community design and development. In
my daily work with PlaceMatters, I consulted communities about and
developed a broad range of technical and non-technical solutions for
community design and decision-making.
During my time at university, I worked as a freelance developer in the
field of online planning support tools and held jobs as community planning assistant and professional research assistant at different urban planning companies.
I was awarded the degree of Bachelor and Master in Urban and Regional
Planning from Technical University Berlin.
